I (Angela Bruce) am the owner/operator of By The Backroads, a boutique travel company based out of New Zealand.

My late husband (Michael Britton) and I started organizing adventure rides in New Zealand in 1992 and extended to international motorcycle tours in 1999, creating By the Backroads. What began as our passion for exploration and adventure has grown into a renowned business, providing customers with unique experiences on roads less travelled.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of adventure and camaraderie that lives on in every tour we lead. His adventurous spirit, coupled with his genuine kindness and zest for life, remains embedded in the very fabric of By the Backroads.

Currently we run tours in; Bali, Bolivia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Japan, Greece, Albania & Montenegro and have a brand new tour coming up –  Scandinavia! We estimate we’ve travelled hundreds of thousands of kilometres, guided more than 300 happy customers and sampled the margaritas everywhere we go. We’re first aid trained, insured, licensed and have been New Zealand safety audited. All tours are personally guided, supported by local guides.
